It is in the same family as the pumpkin. When its getting dry, the seeds inside drying as well and falling one-one. By turning it upsidedown, you also get the sound of flowing water, which absolutely magic. The güiro is a percussion instrument consisting of an open-ended, hollow gourd with parallel notches cut in one side. It is played by rubbing a wooden stick ("pua") along the notches to produce a ratchet-like sound. Friday, 12 March 2010Pumpkins Elections
Right before Christmas Andre brought home exotic pumpkins. Their price also was exotic - it cost about x4 to compare to regular pumpkins. Seeing my raised eyebrows, Andre said he was going to paint these pumpkins and I mellowed.
... December passed and January passed as well. Pumpkins decorated our kitchen, changed colors and became part of interior. Sometimes we said that need to paint them already. February run away... In March pumpkins became change colors intensively - they lived their own life and welcomed spring. One Saturday Andre said "it's right moment now" and just did it!
