A new piece from bottled serial.

Andre is working on a new piece from bottled serial.
DAY 1.

DAY 2.
Yesterday we found the name for this piece - SOBRIETY. But here is the next morning inspiration (the painting is still in the process) - AA MEETING. Look at the bottles, doesn't they look alike a A.A. group in the meeting?

I think it will be interesting to notice that I used here not "conventional" canvas but pice of old hessian fabric. Once upon a time this sack was full of seeds from Ireland and was taken by ship... Where?...

 Who knows!

Rustic with Corn Bread

Not Available

You see - I continued with garlic theme.
First it was planned to be one more short-term still life: trio of garlic fists and their sophisticated shadows, nothing else. Then I baked a Corn Bread - I have to admit that it was quite spontaneous. The bread had such a beautiful colors that I wanted to paint it immediately. Still being into the garlic-paint, I didn't want to leave it unfinished and switch to another one; so I decided to combine two in one. Oh, it was not great idea, not at all, because colors didn't look like one assemble. I changed and re-painted it for about six (!) times, until I felt that I can accept it. The final version is here - may be not the best one, but at least it done.

Wood Shavings

This very old plane (about a hundred y.o.!) belonged to our friend's father. Ohh, no, the friend's name is not Pinocchio! We lent it for paint and it is appears in two pictures.

Here is the photo of painting "a-la prima" - We know you like to watch the process.

The third photo shows details. The goal (technical side) of this painting was to show different wood textures: loose and mellow shavings, soft wood of planks, table with half-erased old varnish. Different textures, but all of them are warm and golden. The cold blue of the blade comes for contrast.

:-) We know - you like to peek into our kitchen

This is beatiful hand-decorated musical instrument from Peru - Gourd Guiro, made from whole gourd, without even opening it. It is in the same family as the pumpkin. When its getting dry, the seeds inside drying as well and falling one-one. By turning it upsidedown, you also get the sound of flowing water, which absolutely magic. The güiro is a percussion instrument consisting of an open-ended, hollow gourd with parallel notches cut in one side. It is played by rubbing a wooden stick ("pua") along the notches to produce a ratchet-like sound.

Here is tomato-theme comes again. You can call it "tomato-serial". Pictures were updated all together, but they were painted during few days. One big tomato-family was kindly posing.
Why it feels like I'm talking about portraits of Sicilian family?

These tomatos are like scattering beads - aren't them?
I love smoothness and roundness of tomatos, love that they are so pure and rustic, uncomplicated and casual. Simple red, natural sweetness + I love the smell of tomato plant leaves!
