Every winter I have return guests - flowering cyclamens.
First they came as singles - delicate pale lilac propellers.
It's fun to watch them - during the light day they move their petals from complete down, through sides to "hands up" position. Their behaving remembers me sea stars.

In some weeks they become a carpet. Dark fleshy green leaves are at the 1st floor and stars of cyclamens in the upper floor. Stars swing on thin legs, turning the faces to the sun. Sometimes they pour on the leaves of a handful of yellow pollen. Weightless iridescent hummingbirds hang over a flowers, picking "the Best piece". With dusk propellers are switching to night shift, if night cold they look especially happy and fresh.  I hope to paint them more this winer - the season just begins.
