Still so much of life
Saturday, 31 October 2009The last-last day of exhibition
It’s rainy today. Intermittingly the rain stops and the telephone starts ringing: “Are you opened today? We want to arrive!” – We get telephones from the last-moment visitors. Yes, we are opened the last (last of the last) day. Tomorrow we’ll begin to disassemble, to send pictures that were sold, to return the studio up to a normal lifestyle. We enjoyed every moment and learned a lot from this show. I’ll write more lately.
Now I can’t help myself - I just m-u-s-t ! publish this authentic comment as it was, with no editing. Here is the original text in Russian written by Vavanchik in our guestbook (sorry, folks, its folklore and can’t be translated!) Friday, 30 October 2009Metallography
Size: 22x30 cm
Media: oil colors on canvas @ VANESSA STASHINSKI 2009 I used to be frequently asked about the name of this paint. Well, Andre named it (thanks dear!) So.. finally, what is it "metallography"? "Metallography is the study of the physical structure and components of metals." (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metallography). My aim in this still-life was working on metals textures, forms and reflections, light and shadow play is always interesting as well. Vanessa Thursday, 29 October 2009Wednesday, 28 October 2009Where is the f* plumber?Oil painting. Size: 30 x 22 cm
@ ANDRE STASHINSKI 2009 “Rasp is not a proper tool for plumber!” Correct. And wire-cutter is not too. If you know what belongs to professional plumber’s toolbox and what does not – you probably will never been in condition to exclaim: “Where is the f* plumber!" To be serious – here I worked on different surfaces: wood, fabric, plastic, polished and blued steel.

Here are some comments from the guestbook below
October 08, 2009 Dear Vanessa & Andrej! Congratulations to both of you on this wonderful achievement - an extra special exhibition of still life artworks that "grab the eye" and provide great pleasure and enjoyment. Your talents are manifestly apparent throughout this exhibition; and, I'm sure that - whatever the subject - your skilful hands and keen eyes for detail will render exhibition of wonder and joy. I wish you much success in this - and all future exhibitions. Dan Chill, Gina Gallery http://www.ginagallery.com/ October 30, 2009 So beautiful, so soft... I enjoyed very much and wish you tonns of luck in your beautiful work. Congratulation! With appreciation, Eva November 13, 2009 I am in awe at the work you have done!!! It is not only beautiful, but has significance and meaning in each one. Kudos to both of you and I pray that you are given what you need and I am believing you will. Love both of you, Billy Monday, 26 October 2009Overture to soupOil painting. Size: 50 x 40 cm
@ VANESSA STASHINSKI 2009 ""The making of a good soup is quite an art" Mme. Seignobos (early 20th century), France I was thinking lately: the good soup could be compared to symphony – the same league of components ensemble, sophistication and delicious elegancy. Then vegetables washed and composed should be an overture. Saturday, 24 October 2009Scaffold

It's the most spontaneous and my absolute favorite from the duck(s) serial. LOL, I became a rubber-duck specialist at the last time. But ... uffff, here it is a bad photo again. It was poor light and all color-work has gone. I love in this picture its transparency - feeling of watercolor, even it in oil. I'll try to improve the photo later. Actually, there is the same branch of flowers, but have seen by another eyes and, well, painted with another hands. We use to practice this: to paint the same subject - everyone by his/her way. Saturday, 10 October 2009Evening lightsSize: 30x22 cm
Media: oil colors on canvas © ANDRE STASHINSKI 2009 I want to share a little secret with you. This is an evening sun that makes oranges look like burn from within. As the real source of light stand behind of the picture frame, as a result – we have here 4 fire foxes. It was a big challenge for me – to paint in serious time trouble – evening sunlight is too short! Andre Friday, 9 October 2009Thursday, 8 October 2009Good neighborhood

Tuesday, 6 October 2009Disassembled powerSize: 40 x 30cm Media: Oil colors on stretched canvas © ANDRE STASHINSKI 2009 Well, if you are familiar with engines, you can easily recognize this part. For others, who is not – this is a crankshaft, heart of scooter engine. But here, taken out, it is just like a fish out of water: cold, powerless and useless. Massive metal tools (hummer and wrench) were placed here just to stress these feelings. I have mechanical experience, and, trust me - it is impossible to fix an engine with hummer, but definitely possible to destroy… Andre Saturday, 3 October 2009Masquerade ballSize: 50 x 70 cm Media: Oil colors on stretched canvas © ANDRE STASHINSKI 2009 SOLD My cousin told me: “It recalls me Venice”. Of course it is - it is the original Venetian masque. But actually I wanted to create a medieval carnival atmosphere, not necessarily Venetian one: books with poems (Shakespeare?), flute, light gray lights of early evening. Cheery and mysterious night is coming to us… P.S. and...IFFF you wanted to ask about “Eyes Wide Shut” by Stanley Kubrick – I have NOT being thinking about this movie! Andre Friday, 2 October 2009News from exhibition(Text coming here) Andre ![]() Stunning! I was amazed by application, beauty and excellence! Pictures are mirroring different segments of human life and, even more then it, they create oun world, full of colors. Thank you! Anton Thursday, 1 October 2009New Space
Hah! We did it!
Look at photos below – it’s the second space (too small to call it “hall”) – all new and white and shiny! :-D

Search This BlogABOUT USWhy Still Life
Still life is one of genres that often underestimated as it is considered educational. Let us disagree with this. Still life is a mirror of the moment, it often deals with everyday objects that seem us casual today, but in a while they would make an interest for spectator as "antique" stuff. Fashion, technologies, habits of people change faster then you can imagine. Once these still objects get reflected in the painting - they receive a fixed place in lines of our memories. Thanks to its ability to be composed in particular way, still life is an excellent tool to express the mood or idea of the author. Exactly alike one's mind it could be plain or deep, joyful or pissed of, to express curiosity/ balance or disbalance/ Zen or stress, etc.
TO CALL THEM NAMESWhen named - painting is getting personal. Reviving itself, he will wake you up to emotions, associations and thoughts. Giving creative names to the paintings we often turn the spectator to another direction. Named still life is getting alive, playful and actively interact with spectator.
